I’ve been here, there, everywhere this month, so buckle up while I fill you in on the juicy details!
We capped last month with several fabulous workshops and presentations across two large conferences—Reading Roundup in Maine and the New England Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators conference in Massachusetts (yes, that second one is a mouthful),
Reading Roundup was a state librarian conference for Maine school librarians, and it was EPIC. A group of talented authors and I presented a wonderful panel about writing rich and poor kids in novels. Not to mention, I got to introduce so many new librarians to the World of Alchemy in Shad Hadid and the Alchemists of Alexandria.
Speaking of the book, we sold out of copies at the second conference, where I talked about how to write awesome characters as well as how to create and sell a graphic novel (yes, they were fully attended because the people at the conference were AMAZING). Catch some of the highlights pictured below!
Also in the highlights above is a particular Concord, Massachusetts hat because I’m now actively the writer-in-residence at the Concord Public Library. The library is graciously paying me to be a literary resource in a community with so much existing talent, which is the largest of honors.
On top of that, another privilege is getting to be a GUEST OF HONOR for a writing conference—the Write Hive annual conference! You can see the image above but also click into the link to sign up for this FREE opportunity!
So, that’s a small sampling of what I’ve been up since we last spoke. If you haven’t yet, go pre-order Shad Hadid and the Forbidden Alchemies. Teachers, if you’re looking for someone to engage your students about reading—heck, even if you aren’t—send an invite for me to do a school visit in the Fall!
Thanks for continuing to follow my journey :)
