Do you feel a sense of anticipation as we move into the Fall?
NO?! I guess it’s just me then, but you would feel it if you had a paperback book releasing in September, another Hardcover book releasing in October, and several events and conferences to promote the two.
That is to say, of course, if you want to support my scrambling about, do purchase my first novel, Shad Hadid and the Alchemists of Alexandria, or pre-order its upcoming sequel, Shad Hadid and the Forbidden Alchemies.
Now that this moment of self-promotion is out of the way, and I will note some upcoming events of mine later, I wanted to update you on my ACTUAL LIFE. Yes, I do have one…most of the time.
Right at the end of July, I got married!
It was awesome. Beyond awesome. I don’t talk publicly about my partner much for her own privacy, but Hannah has supported me throughout my writing career. We’ve weathered a pandemic, traveled the world, and now tied the knot. See some pictures below from this very small and yet momentous event.
Of course, being an author means spending a lot of time solo in front of a computer dealing with fake worlds and imaginary people. Nothing is better for some fresh perspective than being close to the people we care about most. My life hack to keep grounded is having wonderful people around me (many of you included).
To that end, the next couple of months will include spending quality time with those who ground me, but also meeting many new people like readers, writers, and wonderful folks who attend my events….and boy do I have a lot of upcoming events.
August has been a celebratory month. I had three total parties to celebrate the wedding with various family members and across states. As such, we weren’t as productive as I like to be, but productivity is a bit overrated. Meaningful experiences is the whole point of this whole life thing anyways.
Should you be around, though, and can attend any of the events or workshops below, please join in on the fun! I’d love to keep making those meaningful experiences, and so I look forward to using my upcoming books as an excuse for just that.
A simple google search related to any of the above events should get you there, but if you have questions or trouble locating them, please reach out!
Similarly, I’m starting to think about school visits in the Fall months. If you are or know a school teacher or librarian who might like to speak with an author about having me visit their school, please let me know as well. I would love to connect to more students in this upcoming school year.
And, again, do check out the Shad Hadid series. If you’re not able to buy it, then check it out from your local library! There’s always be fun to be had in the world of alchemy…and did I mention the books make a great gift?
That’s it for this newsletter, friends. May your September bring great tidings and better books. I always look forward to connecting, so please don’t be afraid to reach out!
